Living Lab

The Living Lab in Pilsen is a platform where academia meets civil society, public institutions, the private sector and citizens. Within the Living Lab, UWB establishes cooperation with these actors and participates in solving specific social problems by providing its academic know-how, knowledge and capacities.

The Living Lab in Pilsen is a platform that serves as a supporting infrastructure for the development of applied research activities.

We are a part of the international partnership network of Living Labs within the EUPeace alliance of European universities.

Principles of operation of the Living Lab

  • openness to the external environment
  • multi-disciplinary – elimination of field boundaries and their methodological limits
  • orientation to practical problems – current in the local, regional, or national environment
  • identification and formulation of issues always in cooperation with external stakeholders
  • involving actors in finding solutions to problems – the public, private, and non-profit sectors
  • mixed-method approach – combination of perspectives and field know-how in solving problems
